About this Event
A celebration of home-grown creativity in Hamilton and beyond, Hot Off the Press: book + print fair brings together 25+ small and DIY presses, zinesters, printmakers, photographers, designers, authors, and more, providing visitors the opportunity to learn more about independent and handmade publishing and printing practices and to discover a varied selection of local, affordable art, books, and other unique publications.
This event is FREE to attend!
Supporters' Tickets are available, with funds going to support workshop facilitator honorariums, snacks and drinks for vendors, and future Odder Seeds Programming.
$10 Supporters receive a 'swag pack' of Odder Seeds stickers + buttons to be picked up at Hot Off the Press!
$20 Supporters receive an exclusive, limited edition Odder Seeds linocut print along with a sticker and button!
DROP-IN WORKSHOPS
Funny Pages: Creating Gag Comics, hosted by Joy San
11 am - 12 pm
"An all-ages. all skill levels session where you can learn how to create your own funny comic strip, just like the ones you find in those old-timey 'newspapers'!"
Nothing Much: a workshop in unspectacular zine-making, hosted by J. Avolio/ Liminal States
1 pm- 2 pm
"With prompting and printed guidelines, I'll suggest 10 mins of just sitting in intentional boredom (can jot down ideas that drift through their head or mundane things from their week), then attendees can use this as inspo to make a simple 8-page zine. I will do a short zine-folding demo intermittently. It's intended to help people be still, creatively receptive, slow, imperfect, low-pressure, and make something unspectacular and just enjoy the ease of creation."
Self-Guided Zine-Making Station

Create your own mini 8-page zine from supplied collage and craft materials.
Trading Table
