Hot L Poets returns to the patio of The Ivy Bookshop for their April event! Hear readings, and bring a poem for an open mic!
About this Event

Sunday April 13, 2025 at 4pm, The HOT L Poets Series continues at The Ivy Bookshop (Baltimore)-- moving to the patio at 5928 Falls Rd. for the spring season-- with poets Brandel France de Bravo & Christian Teresi! The reading includes an open mic so bring a poem (1 poem, 3 min. or less). In our 7th season, the reading series is sponsored by Smartish Pace and Baltimore Poets Theatre. Hosts: Clare Banks, David Yezzi, Stephen Reichert and Traci O'Dea.

Brandel France de Bravo’s third collection of poems, Locomotive Cathedral (2025), was selected in the Backwaters Press contest by judge Hilda Raz published by the University of Nebraska Press. France de Bravo’s poems and essays have appeared in Best American Poetry, 32 Poems, Alaska Quarterly Review, Barrow Street, the Cincinnati Review, Conduit, The Georgia Review, Gulf Coast, Poet Lore, Seneca Review, the Southern Humanities Review, and elsewhere. Her previous books include: Provenance (a Washington Writers’ Publishing House poetry prize winner, 2008), the poetry chapbook Mother, Loose (Accents Publishing, Judge’s Choice Award, 2015), and the parenting book, Trees Make the Best Mobiles, Simple Ways to Raise Your Child in a Complex World (St. Martin’s Press). In addition, she edited the bilingual anthology, Mexican Poetry Today: 20/20 Voices (Shearsman Books).

Christian Teresi is the author of What Monsters You Make of Them (Red Hen Press). His poems, essays, and translations have appeared in many journals, including AGNI, The American Poetry Review, Blackbird, The Kenyon Review, Literary Hub, and Narrative. He lives in Washington, DC where he works on international education and public diplomacy initiatives. Read more about him at christianteresi.com.
