Pizza is a family favorite that is versatile, easy, and the perfect beginner food to cook in an horno, or outdoor adobe oven. Join us at Fort Selden Historic Site in Radium Springs, New Mexico, on Sat., Feb. 21, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. to learn how to cook pizza in an horno.Whether you decide to make your own pizza from scratch with your very own pizza dough recipe or opt to buy a pre-made pizza from a local supermarket, an adobe horno is more than capable of producing outstanding pizza. Staff at Fort Selden will fire up the horno and help visitors cook their pizzas.
Important Note: Please bring your own pizza pie to cook in our horno. Make sure your pizza’s circumference is 14 inches or below to properly fit in the horno. A twelve-inch crust is the ideal size. Make sure to get here at the beginning of the program to ensure enough baking time for everyone. The site may not be able to accommodate late arrivals due to the heat of the oven. Firing the horno is subject to weather and fire restrictions.
This is a family-friendly event, so all ages are welcome. The program is included as part of general admission of $5 per adult and free to children 16 years and younger.
