Hope Island South Paddle, Walker County Park Picnic
About this Event
Join Robert and friends on a paddle to Hope Island South! We will have options for beginners to intermediate paddles.
Tentative Schedule
Group A (Walker Park) - This would be a sea kayak group only - full immersion gear, proper kayaks, safety stuff, etc (UP TO 6 paddlers unless I have an added leader)
- Meet at Walker Park at 8 AM
- Safety/Beach talk at 8:45
- Launch at 9 AM
We'll take the ebb (2.4 knots at launch) to Arcadia Point boat ramp playing in any current we find before meeting up with Group B by 11 AM
Group B (Arcadia) - Open to all craft, with immersion gear, PFD (with whistle), etc (Group will need at least one 'leader' for added eyes)
- Must be ready to launch at 11 AM
We need to launch on time as the flood will have started.
The plan is to head clockwise around Hope, stopping at the campsite for those wanting to pick apples and to check out the site.
Groups A & B
- Head back to Arcadia
- Group A will then launch from Arcadia and head back to Walker on the flood playing in features as we find them.
The plan is to be back at Walker about 2:30 PM (max flood is 1.9 knots at 2:25 PM).
Our return time to Walker is variable based on paddle speed, how much we play, and how much time we spend at Hope.
Andree will prepare a salmon bbq with vegan burgers. Please bring a potluck dish and what you would like to drink.
