Sathya Sai Sanctuary Trust for Nature invites you to spend an afternoon at the Sathya Sai Donkey Sanctuary, and take a step back in time to discover the role of the donkey in our heritage. Donkeys were absolutely core to the development of Irish heritage over the past 1000 years, as they hauled and carried people, turf, sea-W**d, building materials, and food up and down the bóithrín of Ireland and, quite literally, shaped the Ireland of today.
You can also discover some of the traditional crafts common on a farmstead in the past.
The sanctuary is situated in stunning surroundings of the Bricklieve Mountains and adjacent to the Carrowkeel Tomb Complex.
Due to the narrow approach roads and the limited parking at the sanctuary, there will be no parking available at the sanctuary on the day. A shuttle bus will operate on a half hourly basis from McDermotts Bar and Restaurant, Castlebaldwin, to the Sanctuary with the first bus departing from McDermotts at 11.20am and final bus at 4pm. Last bus will depart the sanctuary at 5pm.
This is an outdoor event, so weather appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended. Well behaved dogs are permitted, but on a lead and please remember to clean up after them.
