Hoop Dreams – A Reality Check

This Basketball Symposium is designed to serve as a genuine reality check for young athletes and their parents, providing them with the knowledge and perspective they need to navigate the sports world beyond just the game. Featuring a panel of experienced voices, including former athletes, coaches, and industry professionals, this event will offer honest discussions about the challenges and opportunities that come with pursuing basketball at the next level. The symposium will help student-athletes understand the college process by sharing personal journeys and breaking down the key steps required to succeed both on and off the court. From recruitment and eligibility to academic preparation and life as a student-athlete, this symposium will equip attendees with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their future in basketball. New this year, the Positive Coaching Alliance will be on-site to facilitate a positive sports workshop, informing and equipping parents and caretakers with tips and resources on helping their youth athlete process the ups and downs of their sports journey. Following the panel and workshop, NIKE will facilitate a skills challenge for players of all levels to help improve their fundamental basketball abilities in a focused yet competitive environment.
