Hoodoo Heritage Month Gathering Event

Join us for the Hoodoo Heritage Month Gathering Event, a free, community-led gathering dedicated to honoring our ancestors, preserving African American Hoodoo, and bringing our community together through education, remembrance, and shared responsibility.
This is more than an event. It’s an opportunity to remember who we are, where we come from, and why Hoodoo continues to matter today.
Throughout the day, attendees will have opportunities to experience educational presentations, ancestral honoring, storytelling, cultural demonstrations, historical exhibits, children’s activities, rhythm and music, a community ancestor altar, a Black-owned vendor marketplace, and much more.
One of the highlights of the gathering will be a teaching on What Hoodoo Is, exploring its history, purpose, and importance within African American communities. We’ll discuss the many roles our ancestors held (including root doctors, granny midwives, herbalists, prayer warriors, healers, community caretakers, and others) and why preserving this knowledge is essential for future generations.
This gathering is built on one simple idea: community.
No single person is responsible for making this happen. It is being built by volunteers, vendors, educators, musicians, artists, healers, storytellers, families, and community members who believe our heritage deserves to be remembered and preserved.
Admission is FREE for the public.
We invite you to learn, volunteer, donate, support our Black-owned vendors, honor your ancestors, and become part of something bigger than a single day.
Because if we can come together to build one gathering, we can come together to strengthen our communities long after Hoodoo Heritage Month is over.
