🌿 Workshop Description
When a musician isn't available, how can a performance be more musical?
This question led to the development of this unique workshop inspired by the London-based Acaprov acapella musical improv troupe.
Throughout the weekend we will explore how voice, rhythm and musicality can deepen Playback Theatre performance and strengthen ensemble connection during the reenactment of stories.
✨ Participants will work with:
🎵 vocalization and rhythm exercises
🎵 acapella improvisation techniques
🎵 song building and pattern crafting
🎵 musical approaches to Playback Theatre forms
We’ll integrate these techniques into both familiar Playback forms and original forms inspired by musical theatre structures.
As we become more familiar with these tools, we will also explore:
❤️ the art of improvisation and its connection to story structure
❤️ symbolism and metaphor in Playback Theatre
❤️ balancing literal interpretation with artistic expression
❤️ working with the different layers of a story during reenactment
The aim of this workshop is to enrich the way we listen, respond and create together on stage.
👥 Playback experience required:
Core training (Level 1) or equivalent experience.

12-hour intensive weekend workshop (Saturday from 10:00 till 18:00, Sunday from 10:00 till 14:00)

🎭 THE FACILITATOR
Ferran Luengo is a Spanish actor and applied theatre facilitator based in London. Being a CPT-accredited Playback Theatre trainer, he has been immersed in the practice of Playback Theatre for more than a decade, drawing from twenty five years of stagecraft in theatre and improv.
He actively performs and facilitates with London Playback and True Heart Theatre, while also improvising with the acapella musical troupe Acaprov, Not GCSE Drama, and Shuffle. As an applied theatre facilitator he is committed to theatre in education, facilitating and performing in dozens of schools in London and beyond.
