About the Mission:
Lt.Col. Robert (Bob) Dean Penwell of Leland served our nation with honor and distinction in the United States Army. Originally from the state of Iowa, he attended the University of Iowa, was commissioned as an officer in the Army and went forward to serve in the Vietnam War and then to Germany as Commander of the 205th Aviation Company. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal, NDSM, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Parachutist Badge, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation with Palm, Army Aviation Badge, Senior Army Aviator Badge and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star.
Bob retired to the Leland, NC area where he served actively on the Leland Planning Board and American Legion Post 68.

10:00 am - Staging for mission
10:15 am - Mission briefing
10:30 am - Stand flag line for arrival of family and friends
11:00 am - Service begins / Stand down flag line and prepare for escort to Oleander Memorial Gardens WITHOUT LEO.
12:15 pm est - Arrival at Oleander Memorial Gardens / dismount and stand flag line for Military Honors
WHEN ARRIVING AT ANDREWS FUNERAL HOME, BIKES WILL BE STAGED TOWARDS THE BACK OF THE FACILITY FOR ESCORT.
Flags & Water:
Flags will be provided.
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will be provided.
