Come help clear invasive Honeysuckle from Noe Bixby Parkland, next to Columbus Torah Academy!
We're partnering with Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to give nature a helping hand by removing invasive shrubs that choke out all other vegetation.
Saturday, November 7, 9am to noon.
Supplies will be provided (loppers, pruning saws), but you're welcome to bring your own gloves and tools. Wear closed-toed shoes, clothes that can get messy; bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray (the mosquitos will probably be gone by November, but just in case I'll bring DEET for anyone who wants it). Many shrubs are small enough that they pull straight out of the ground. For others, I recommend a $6 pruning saw (link below). We'll start at 9am and go until noon, but you don't have to stay the entire time. This is an activity that is easy enough that kids can get involved, and it's a great way for them to learn about protecting nature.
Park at Columbus Torah Academy (the school asks only that we don't park too close to the building, to avoid setting off any alarms).
We'll be working in the wooded area past the open field. Columbus Recreation and Parks staff will be there to guide us.
Please indicate if you're coming so we can plan a headcount.
See you there!
