Honeycrisp Weekend is coming up September 5 - 7, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the start of fall on the farm.
This year’s apple season at our Iowa City farm will look a little different. A late spring frost damaged or destroyed many of the flower buds before they could become apples, which means we have a light and uneven crop. There will be apples, but you-pick availability may change quickly throughout the season.
Because of that, we’re creating a new in-orchard apple sampling station where our team can introduce the varieties currently available, offer tastes, talk about what’s ripe, and help guests understand what they’re likely to find before they begin picking. If guests aren’t able to fill their baskets from the trees, we’ll also have pre-picked apples from our Solon farm nearby so baskets can be topped off at the discounted you-pick rate.
If apple picking is the main reason for your visit, please check our social media or give us a call at 319.354.5651 before heading out, as availability may change quickly.
