About this Event
Join Fresh Approach for a thoughtfully curated afternoon that brings together art, ecology, and community impact.
This intimate gathering is designed for those who value beauty, sustainability, and meaningful local investment. Together, we will explore the connection between pollinators, native plants, and the food systems that nourish our region — before turning that inspiration into floral design.
🍯 Ecology & Pollinators with Dirk Kiehne, Menlo Honey
Retired engineer turned beekeeper, Dirk Kiehne tends and harvests hives throughout Menlo Park. He’ll be set up with his stock of honey and talk about ways to attract pollinators to amplify your garden’s blooms.
🌸 Floral Design with Geo (“Local Flower Boy”)
Participants will create a seasonal bouquet using flowers sourced from the San Francisco Flower Market.
While we will not create traditional Ikebana arrangements, this workshop is infused with its guiding principles:- Honoring natural movement- Designing with presence and intention
Through guided instruction and one-on-one support, you’ll create a bouquet that reflects both the season and your own creative sensibility.
🌿 Why This Gathering Matters
Proceeds directly support Fresh Approach’s farmers’ markets, food access initiatives, and urban agriculture education programs serving East Palo Alto and surrounding Bay Area communities.
