Homophonic! RESPECT project, Ballarat

A concert like no other — Homophonic! brings the disco ball to the concert hall in a powerful celebration of Australian queer history, storytelling, and song.
Every piece in this program has been created as part of Homophonic!’s RESPECT project, pairing composers with senior members of queer communities across Australia to create music inspired by their lives, loves, resilience, and adventures.
Through humour, tenderness, and more than a little collective outrage, these new works honour and preserve our shared cultural history — writing our stories down and singing them out loud!
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon featuring voices and strings, celebrating the generations who shaped our communities and the stories that still resonate today.
Presented and performed by Miranda Hill, The Consort of Melbourne, and the Homophonic! String Quintet.
“Homophonic! creates nothing less than musical utopia” – Stage Whispers.
"Homophonic! shines a rainbow lens on our often sepia-tinted past" - The Age.
Winner of the APRA AMCOS Art Music “Victorian Luminary” Award 2024
Homophonic! is supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.
Homophonic! is assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
