*PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE from Feb. 15 to March 1*Join local amateur anthropologist (and GMU Physics Professor) Dr. Robert Oerter as he discusses the discovery of the Lucy fossil, a skeleton of Australopithecus afarensis, was a crucial step in understanding human evolution. With the aid of some replica fossils, He will recap what we learned from Lucy and the state of the science of human evolution in the late 20th century.
He will take you through some of the amazing new discoveries that have taken place since the year 2000: much older fossils, human ancestors in surprising places, and, of course, hobbits! Yes, real live (well, fake, dead) hobbits. I’m sure you’ll want to hear about these enigmatic human relatives, and if you already know about them, maybe learn something new.
Even if you know about these new finds, you’ll want the hands-on experience, including drinking mead (the honey part), so don’t miss this chance!
Free event. Limited indoor seating (so come early to get a seat). New Food Menu: https://www.marylandmeadworks.com/food
