About this Event

Join us for an engaging and insightful book talk on Homeschooling Black Children on a College Pathway, edited by Dr. Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman and presented by Black Family Homeschool Educators and Scholars, LLC. The book features the voices of a half dozen Black parents who have homeschooled their children on a college pathway.

This book talk discussion will cover a variety of topics, including the challenges and triumphs faced by Black homeschooled students as they transition to college, the experiences of Black homeschooled high school students preparing for college after attending traditional P-12 schools, whether public, private, or charter and the college enrollment experiences of Black dual-enrolled homeschooled students.

The book discusses the pathways and preparation for those pursuing STEM education and careers and includes reflections on how homeschooling influenced their life trajectories and career paths. This book talk is a must-attend event for educators, parents, students, and anyone interested in understanding the multifaceted experiences of Black homeschooled students on their journey to higher education.

Join us for an enriching conversation that highlights the strengths, challenges, and successes of homeschooling in the Black community and its impact on college readiness and beyond.

Black Family Homeschool Educators and Scholars, LLC (BFHES) is the first

US-based research and education group dedicated specifically to the topic of black

family homeschooling, founded in 2020. BFHES produced the inaugural BFHES Virtual

Teach-In, featuring over 20 speakers and attracting over 200 participants for a seven

day event.
