Every Spring, through the use of iNaturalist, citizen scientists around the nation work collaboratively to conduct biological surveys around their homes, neighborhoods and cities to help identify wildlife species that exist in their area. These efforts help biologists better understand the biodiversity that exists around us. Our homeschool community is invited to join Jones Park staff and other volunteers in collecting data to add to this collective and help the Houston area remain the top reporting region in the U.S. Community Service hours can be earned for this event. Learn how to use iNaturalist to report your findings and then journey into the park to see how many different species of plants and animals you can spy!
All ages welcome. Meet in the greenspace across from the Nature Center and be prepared to spend 1-2 hours outside on the trails. Trails have varied surfaces that are uneven at times.
