Do you own a microscope or would like to purchase one but feel unsure how to use it effectively or even where to start? This hands-on workshop is designed specifically for homeschool parents who want to gain confidence using the compound (high-power) and/or stereo (dissecting) microscopes with their students.

In just two hours, you'll master the operation, focusing, and maintenance of these essential scientific instruments. We will have microscopes to share and practice or bring your own for specific guidance with your instrument.

• Microscope Types: Learn the fundamental differences between the Compound Light Microscope and the Stereo (Dissecting) Microscope and when to use each one for different lessons.
• Confident Operation: Get hands-on practice focusing and achieving sharp images with both types of scopes using pre-prepared samples.
• The Power of 3D: Learn to maximize the Stereo Microscope for examining bugs, rocks, feathers, and other large, everyday objects.
• Essential Maintenance: Learn the non-negotiable rules for cleaning and storing your instrument to ensure its longevity.

• FREE Microscope Care Kit ($15 value): All participants will receive a take-home kit with the essential supplies (lens paper, solution, and dust bulb.) to ensure the proper cleaning and care for your instrument to serve you well and keep its value.

• Your Microscope(s): We strongly encourage you to bring your own compound and/or stereo microscope if you have one! This is the best way to get direct, personalized help with your specific model's functions and any troubleshooting issues.
• Loaner Microscopes: Don't own one yet? No problem! We will have several microscopes available to share for any participant who needs one to ensure everyone gets hands-on practice.
• Notebook and Pen: For taking notes on maintenance and lesson ideas.
