We believe Earth Day shouldn't just be celebrated once a year, it should be honored EVERY day, and even the youngest of children can be stewards and warriors for our planet and those who inhabit it. The Conservation Corner series aims to introduce and connect students to this complex topic in bite-size pieces, touching on various "corners" of the conservation realm. Specific topics within the conservation theme will vary from class to class, but supporting activities may include a related story, group discussion, debate, a game, and/or an art project. The activities in each class will help introduce specific concepts within wildlife conservation to the students, will allow them to weigh both sides, think critically, and use their creativity for good. Fall topics include: Captive Animals, Leave No Trace, Balloons Blow, and Keystone Species. During this session, students will also be working on two collaborative art pieces, which will get printed on greeting cards for our Cards for Conservationists project. Our ambassador Tiger Salamander, Banana Bread, may also be making a classroom visit or two during this session.
The Cards for Conservationists project is a (grant-funded) collaborative effort, where students will get to leave their marks by creating meaningful artworks for greeting cards, fill them out with gratitude, and we will then send the cards out to wildlife workers.
Class dates for "fall" session are: Wednesdays 8/14, 9/11, 11/13, and 12/4, 11:00am-Noon.
Cost: $62 for the fall session of 4 classes (discounted). Individual classes, if space allows, will be $17.50 each. At this time, classes can only be registered for as the series. If session does not fill, then individual classes may be opened for registration.
Location: The PEA Studio (located inside Champion Kids in the White Hawk Business Park), 1465 Canton Rd. Suite 100, Marietta, GA 30066
Additional info: This set of classes are mixed-age and geared towards students ages 6-13 years old. Advance registration IS required. If this is your first class with us (or your first with US at the PEA Studio prior to 2023), please plan to arrive 5 minutes early to fill out paperwork before dropping your student off.
Students will connect to this topic in deep and meaningful ways, whether you sign up for this series of classes (at The PEA Studio), the new Conservation Club (at Our Giving Garden), or both. Although both offerings dip into the conservation pool, they both offer unique opportunities, activities, art projects, and different topics to learn about and discuss. For students ages 9-13, we recommend signing up for BOTH the series of classes and the club, to get a well-rounded introduction to this complex topic. More details about the card project, chosen class topics, and related offerings can be found on our website here- http://www.explorewildwood.com/p/conservation-station.html
Please note that registration will not work if you've clicked directly from this Facebook event- you need to open the link in your system browser from a phone, or register from a laptop or desktop.
