You can expect this series to be:
-Free
-Child-led, with AJ helping to facilitate engagement amongst kids
-Open to ALL walks of life, ages, & chess abilities
🫱🏼‍🫲🏾I (AJ) love to hold a space that cultivates community, where kiddos are encouraged to share their voices & passions and listen to one another openly-and what better way to do that then through PLAY! Durning our time together, I am checking in on the players & helping to facilitate conversations/find answers from other kid chess players when helpful, pairing up players when there's an open seat, & reminding them of how much time we have left together.
⌚️No need to register: This Homeschool Chess "Club" is attend-as-you'd-like, but arriving on time if you are joining us is helpful. We'll begin 10 minutes after the event start time, when I will give a few brief remarks & then we'll get playing!
♟️To anyone who has a board: Please bring yours if you'd like to make sure we have enough for many games-thank you! (Not required to join though:)
🧒This is not a drop off program: Caregivers are encouraged to stay present, with the ability to leave older kids in the room, while you hang out in the library. Adults are welcome to play chess with the kids if there are open seats.
👉🏾For those who are just learning, I love to encourage kids to share their knowledge & there has been a phenomenal showing of kiddos who are willing, enjoy teaching, & also benefit from the confidence-building experience. So please join if your child would like to learn from another kid or watch a few games before hopping in.
