Join us for 2026 Homemaking Bootcamp on March 28. Our teacherValerie Eck taught us how to start our own seeds. Starting from seeds and growing them is an awesome experience. To do this you’ll need to purchase black plastic trays, 6 packs, and seed starting mix from Greenhouse Megastore.com. You will need shelves to put them all on and red lights over the trays attached with wires about a foot away. You can get growing lights for about $25 a piece at Walmart or Lowe’s. Be sure the light is at least 5000 Kelvin and 2500 Lumens. Attach the lights under each shelf and fill the shelves up with your planted seeds. Be sure and tap down your soil before you place the seed on it. Leave the light off till the seeds sprout, then keep the plants under lights and sprinkle warm water.
