Homecoming Night Hike

Our neighbors at Shadow Ridge High School are throwing their Homecoming dance, so we're joining the fun by hosting a Homecoming-themed night hike right across the street! Feel free to don corsages, crowns and sashes over your trail-appropriate clothes and shoes. Dress up in your hometown high school colors or do your hair and makeup just like you did for your own Homecoming dance. Be sure to wear safe and comfortable costumes that will let you enjoy the hike in nostalgic style. This self-guided hike starts at the Monumental Mammoth and will be on the Las Vegas Wash Trail (1.5 miles).
Date: Saturday, September 19th, 2026
Time: 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Location: Ice Age Fossils State Park - Check in with the front desk
Need to Know
• This hike is limited to 100 people and registration is REQUIRED. Individuals that show up and are unregistered will be turned away. This form will stop accepting reservations once we reach capacity or 12 pm 9/19/26, whichever comes first.
• Participants MUST arrive between 7:30-8:00 pm. If you arrive outside of that time frame the gates will be closed. The event ends at 9:30 pm and all visitors must exit the park by then.
• Flashlights are required (minimum of 1 for every 2 people) and red lights are preferred since they are less disruptive to other hikers and wildlife. UV flashlights are welcome if you are looking for fluorescent wildlife.
• Pets are not allowed for safety purposes.
• Minors under 17 must be accompanied by an adult and always stay with that adult.
• This event is weather dependent.
• The museum space will be closed for this event, but the visitor center gift shop will be open during check-in, and the restrooms will be open for the duration of the event.

What to Expect
• A glimpse of the park after dark
• The Las Vegas Wash Trail is 1.5 miles long over uneven terrain with steps, steep slopes, and gravely surfaces. Most of the Las Vegas Wash Trail is not appropriate for wheelchairs or mobility devices.
• Arrival is from 7:30-8:00 pm.
• This event ends at 9:30 pm and all park visitors must be exiting the park by that time.
Fees & Registration
• The $3 per person (kids 12 and under are free) entry fee applies. We do not accept Tap to Pay/Apple Pay or American Express.
• There is no additional cost for this program.
