Sam Raimi’s third Evil Dead film abandons horror almost entirely for full-on medieval fantasy comedy. Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), still carrying his boomstick and chainsaw hand, is hurled back to the year 1300 A.D., where he must retrieve the Necronomicon and defeat an army of the dead to get home. It’s a slapstick sword-and-sorcery Three Stooges homage with a chainsaw — and one of the most quotable cult films ever made. Hail to the king.
