Curious about composting at home? Join Sarah McDonald, the City of Edmonton's Home Composting Programs Coordinator, for a hands-on demonstration that shows you how to turn food scraps, leaves, and yard material into healthy soil for your garden, lawn, and potted plants.
You'll learn what to compost, what to leave out, how to set up a system that fits your space, and how to fix the common problems that trip people up.
Sarah has led the City's home composting education since 2017. Her approach is simple, low-cost, and built for every kind of Edmonton home, whether you have a large yard, a small lot, or a balcony.
Price: $20
What we'll cover:
🌱 Composting basics
🥕 What to compost (and what to avoid)
🛠️ Setting up and maintaining your system
🔧 Troubleshooting common problems
🏡 Tips for composting in the garden and at home
This demonstration is hosted by Operation Fruit Rescue Edmonton as part of our ongoing work on food security and waste reduction. Every apple peel, tomato core, and pile of fall leaves is a resource waiting to feed next year's harvest.
Bring your questions. Bring a friend. Leave knowing how to close the loop on food waste in your own backyard.
