Holiday Stress: Why Don’t I Feel the Way I’m Supposed To?
About this Event
Why do the holidays sometimes bring more stress than joy? Why can a season that's supposed to be filled with happiness, connection, and celebration leave us feeling overwhelmed, lonely, disappointed, or emotionally exhausted?
In this special holiday edition of Mental Health Matters, therapist Danny Eller, LCSW explores the psychology of holiday stress and the expectations that shape how we believe the season should feel. Participants will learn how pressure to create the perfect holiday, difficult family dynamics, grief, loneliness, and unrealistic expectations can contribute to anxiety, sadness, and emotional strain—even when there are things in our lives worth celebrating.
This practical and accessible conversation will help attendees recognize the beliefs and expectations that intensify holiday stress, navigate family obligations and boundaries, and make room for difficult or mixed emotions without guilt or self-judgment. Participants will explore healthier ways to approach the season with realistic expectations, meaningful connections, and greater emotional flexibility—without feeling obligated to be happy simply because it's the holidays.
