Holiday Jazz Jam

The Square Root's annual holiday jam features a quintet led by Brian Friedland (piano), with Nick Brust (sax), Andy Voelker (sax), Andrew Schiller (bass), and Joe Musacchia (drums). The performance features Friedland’s "heavily twisted" holiday classics, including a "Jingle Bells/Giant Steps" mashup, "Jingle Bell Rock" in 5/8 time, and a minimalist-inspired "Rudolph," plus transcribed arrangements by jazz legends Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Joshua Redman and Dave Brubeck. Musicians are invited to join the jam session; concert, Bb and Eb parts will be provided, and guests are welcome to call tunes.
Jazz Sundays at the Square Root brings together Boston’s best jazz artists in an intimate restaurant setting for performances and themed jams, curated by Brian Friedland. Cover $10-20 at the door pays the musicians. $5 discount for musicians on jam nights.
