Join us for a celebration of creativity, culture and discovery at Holiday fun and discover new ways to play at State Library of Queensland these school holidays. Mark your calendar on Saturday 28 September for GATHAA First Nations Markets family fun day, an action packed one day only event, celebrating culture and community connection through immersive arts workshops, live performances, unique handcrafted goods, delicious bushfoods and more.
Drop in any day of the school holidays for a range of hands-on workshops designed to unleash your creativity: You draw me!, Portrait play, Make your mark and Augmented AR masks. Plus, enjoy our Scavenger hunt and cozy Reading room for the perfect blend of exploration and relaxation at your own pace.

What’s on:
🍃 GATHAA First Nations Markets family fun day, 28 September – a mega day out for sharing First Nations culture including: live performances, cultural arts workshops, bushfood cooking demonstration, artisan markets, delicious food trucks, Indigenous games and more.
🖍️ You draw me! – step into our artist studio and discover the fun of drawing from life.
🎭 Animated AR masks* – merge traditional and digital art to create your own interactive face mask.
🖌️ Make your mark – explore sensory black and white activity stations and daily 10 am story play.
🎨 Portrait play – explore the Deaf in dance exhibition and create your own portrait.
🔎 Scavenger hunt – complete challenges to uncover top secret library spaces and hidden histories.
📚 Reading room – immerse yourself in the magic of books alongside spectacular city views
