Holiday Dinner & Speaker Series Featuring Kita No Taiko
About this Event
Celebrate the Holidays and 40 Years of Kita no Taiko
Come celebrate the season with the Edmonton & District Historical Society over a holiday meal catered by The Sawmill, followed by an evening of stories, history and live taiko.
For 40 years, the sound of taiko has been part of Edmonton’s cultural landscape.
Founded in 1986 by six people with a passion for Japanese drumming, Kita no Taiko began by practising on spare tires and homemade drums. Four decades later, the group has become part of Edmonton’s cultural history.
Kita no Taiko will join us to share stories from those 40 years, how the group began, how it has grown and the people and community that have carried it forward. Then we’ll get to experience taiko the best way possible: live.
Your evening includes a holiday meal catered by The Sawmill, Kita no Taiko’s presentation and performance, and the chance to gather together before we head into the holiday season.
