About the Class
In partnership with Gaining Ground, Crabtree Farms is hosting a three part autumn-inspired food preservation and cooking series “Cultivating Community at Crabtree: Preserving Autumn Harvests”. For the final class in our series, we will be joined by Chef Jess Revels of Mac’s Kitchen and Bar. Jess will lead a beginner-friendly cooking demonstration on how to transform locally-grown fall produce into delicious holiday side dishes. Participants are invited to assist with prep tasks or can simply enjoy observing the class; everyone will receive the opportunity to ask Chef Jess any questions and sample several tasty dishes!
About the Facilitator
Born and raised in Rossville, Georgia, Jess Revels is one half of the talented duo behind Mac’s Kitchen and Bar, a chef-driven neighborhood restaurant slated to re-open on Dodds Avenue (date to be announced). She attended culinary school at Virginia College and has worked in restaurants and bakeries all over Chattanooga’s dining scene, including The Terminal Brewhouse, Easy Bistro, the Bread Basket, Bread & Butter, and Calliope.
Jess has a passion for pastries and leads the dessert program at Mac’s, where ingredients are sourced as locally as possible and Jess and her partner Brian cultivate deep relationships with the farmers and producers in our region. As further testimony to their dedication to local food and the community, Mac’s has partnered with organizations like Gaining Ground and Crabtree Farms to bring delicious Southern fare to food demonstrations and fundraising dinners, co-hosted events at farms, and given back to the Chatt Foundation through a collaboration with Pedestrian Wine and Cheese’ during their “Soup Season” event.
