About this Event
Welcome in the holidays with us...and cake!
What's says holiday cheer more than warm baked goods shared with those you love?
As we anticipate gathering with friends and families over the holiday season, we're partnering with local baker, Annie Paul of AP Baked Goods, for a class that will teach us how to decorate a beautiful spice cake with torched buttercream frosting and seasonal florals from our friends at Hyssop Floral.
Each guest will get to frost their own layer cake, and decorate it with stunning blooms as together we learn the techniques that can turn your home baked creations into true works of art (and love!). You'll leave with your own cake and cake box, recipes to recreate your frosted delicacy at home, and very likely a satisfied sweet tooth.
And if you can resist the urge to tuck into your cake straight away, you can freeze it to save until your holiday gatherings.
This daytime event will be our final community gathering of the season at the glass house, and we can't wait to celebrate and learn alongside you.

About Annie Paul and AP Baked Goods
Annie grew up with a major sweet tooth, starting her bakery journey with the classic Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie recipe. After working her way up from age 14 in a bakery, moving into cake decorating, and helping run a bakery herself, she met her amazing husband, Joe.
Annie dreamed of owning her own bakery, so Joe jumped right on board - and they teamed up to make it a reality. They began slowly buying their own equipment, stuffing their garages with baking tools instead of cars. As they thought about what they wanted it to look like, they realized that they missed country life and pictured a small, humble homestead where customers could come in, connect and chat together, and grab some amazing treats to take home to friends and family.
After searching for a bit, Annie and Joe found their dream home - with a little perfect addition for a homestead bakery to be attached. Joe built the bakery with his dad on the property, while Annie started to put together the recipes and ideas for the bakery’s offerings. With that, AP Baked Goods took off and has grown to be a staple in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area.
about your hosts and the glass house
It's our belief that we're all co-creators with a deep need to create and be known. As Mako Fujimura would say, our creating is an act of love. When we love, we create, and when we create, we love.
We've transformed a century old glass house into a space where we can experience the joy of creating in community. In doing so, we open ourselves up to the possibility of transformation into people of greater love and joy.
We've hosted many different kinds of gatherings here including modern floral design workshops, big old barn dances, a relationships and the enneagram workshop, classes exploring acrylic and watercolor painting, and sourdough bread baking. We love to gather with our community to create together, and we hope you'll join us.
We look forward to a night of great music and conversation!
Much love,
Chris & Becky
