Gender Identity across the life span and in challenging times
Who (gay, straight, bi, other) hasn’t sometimes asked
“Am I feminine enough?” “Am I too feminine?”
“Am I masculine (manly) enough?” “Am I too masculine?
“Do I fully express who I feel myself to be?”
Everybody has gender identity, everybody thinks about it sometimes, or a lot. What is it? Can it change over time? Are there only two options? And how is gender identity different from sexual orientation?
Our panel of four people, who claim different identities along the gender identity continuum (and different sexual orientations), will share their experiences of discovery and expression of their chosen gender identities as they have evolved over their lifetimes. They will also describe their challenges and successes in living truthfully and authentically in our rigidly binary and often threatening social and political world.
Their stories will be followed by time for your questions and/or reflections on your own experiences of gender identity.
