HOLDING CRACKS TOGETHER - New Sculptures by Nao Matsunaga
About this Event
This body of work emerged from three weeks spent living and working at Eton College in February 2026, researching the Eton Collection and immersed in the life of the art department and the college as a whole.
A sense of history, of time passed, and of generations growing up is present everywhere there. The ancient furniture and worn daily objects I encountered in the collection held a raw energy that resonated deeply with my own practice.
In response, I made a series of large-scale porcelain sculptures, alongside terrine works built from compressed ind sliced remnants of different clays — each slab carrying traces of its distinct material history while forming a single, coherent whole.
