Join Abigail's Trails on a long Sunday walk over Holcombe Moor. We will take in the full length of Holcombe Moor, using moorland paths, including the Rossendale Way. Our route passes Peel Tower and Pilgrim's Cross, and crosses over Harcles Hill and Bull Hill, scoops down through both Alden Valley and Musbury Valley and returns us to Helmshore via Holden Wood Reservoir. Along the way we will have plenty opportunities to rest and admire the panoramic, far reaching views.This is a 12-mile (19km) circular walk of moderate difficulty, with 1198ft (650m) of climb. Most of the walking will be on moorland paths or tracks, with a short section on the new paved path. There is a mix of undulating terrain on the way up, with a more gentle finish along the viaduct in Helmshore. We expect this to take approx. 6 hours.
Well behaved, friendly (with other dogs and people), agile dogs are welcome (max. 2 per person), but please note we may encounter livestock and stiles enroute. Children aged 10+ are also welcome.
As with all Abigail's Trails, this is a small-group guided walk led by a professional Mountain Leader. Spaces are limited and cost £12 per person.
