The story, by Harold Brighouse, revolves around a family run boot makers shop on Chapel Street, Salford and includes Peel Park. The 1954 film starred Charles Laughton, John Mills and Brenda de Banzie (a local actress). Parts of it were filmed in Salford, including at Peel Park and streets around the former town hall on Bexley Square.

This walk involves Peel Park, Chapel Street, Oldfield Road and the area around Bexley Square.
