Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is an emergency heart condition that occurs when a tear forms in one of the blood vessels in the heart. SCAD can slow or block blood flow to the heart causing a heart attack abnormalities in heart rhythm or sudden death. SCAD is the leading cause of heart attacks in women under 50 and cause of heart attacks in healthy fit adults with no risk factors for heart disease.
