Our Silent Movie Series will conclude on Wednesday, September 24th at 6pm at East Haven Public Television on 230 Main Street (with free parking available in the back of the building) with a screening of F.W. Murnau's "Sunrise," starring George O'Brien & Janet Gaynor! A Q&A with Film & Literature Scholar, Professor Guida of Quinnipiac University, will follow this screening.Widely hailed as a masterpiece of the silent film era, "Sunrise" was honored at the 1st Academy Awards ceremony in 1929 with three awards: Best Unique and Artistic Picture, Best Cinematography, and Best Actress in a Leading Role for Janet Gaynor! It's also worth noting that, in addition to "Sunrise," F.W. Murnau directed the original 1922 "Nosferatu"...which could mean nothing.
An RSVP is required to attend this screening: Please email Cynthia, Community Services Librarian, at [email protected]. Many thanks to Jay Miles and the East Haven Public Television team, as well as to Professor Guida for sharing his knowledge with us movie lovers!
