2M2
founded in 2016, is a swiss-chinese project of experimental, noise, improvised music. A duet composed by the swiss drummer Maxime Hänsenberger and the chinese electronic noise musician and performer Mei Zhiyong.
The music of 2M2 is a confrontation between sonic explosions made by loud monolithic multi- frequencial electronic walls of harsh noise sounds and a heavy textural acoustic drumset with lots of free jazz and grindcore materials... 2M2 does improvised, loud and intense performances !
In end of 2019, during their second tour in Switzerland, the project first put out a first release on tape with two recorded live acts from some of their first chinese concerts during winter 2018. Mei and Maxime spent also some days in a studio in Switzerland in december 2019 to record new materials. They're actually working on it for a next release that will be out on WV Sorcerer Productions.
Mei Zhiyong is one of the most active Harsh Noise artists in China. He creates unique noise effects by making a large number of noise generators and modifying industrial instruments. His noise works are known for their exaggerated, dangerous, and extreme characteristics. His live performances are full of physical language and tense atmosphere, bringing audiences a shocking audio-visual experience. Since 2007, Mei Zhiyong has performed in more than 400 shows in mainland China, Japan, neighboring countries, Europe, and other countries, and has released over 40 solo albums and collaborative albums with different artists. He is the founder of the earliest tape label in China, Fuzztape, and initiated China's largest noise art festival, A Bunch of Noise, in 2023, planning to hold it every year. He is also one of the most active noise event organizers in China, organizing China tours for experimental noise art festivals in multiple countries.
Maxime Hänsenberger, swiss drummer born the 10th of May 1988, is active in several musical scenes for more than fifteen years and plays regullary in Switzerland and other countries. First, he started to play music in the metal/grindcore scene, then he studied Jazz and improvised music (Conservatory of Fribourg, Swiss Jazz School of Bern). While he’s still involved into these previous mentioned scenes, he's also a part of the experimental, noise, contemporary music scenes since 2013. Besides his activity as a musician, he's also a drum teacher and he's working in EMA (Ecole des Musiques Actuelles) in Geneva. He also used to organize concerts and cultural events since 2016 (FREI!, Festival du Gibloux, Les Digitales...) but stopped it recently...

Behind the soundless moniker • • • hide's citizen Nikola H. Mounoud whom is now close to two decades of research and actions in the field of live sound making, processes in real time analog, digital and hybrid feedbacks in order to produce unique, powerful and highly dynamic sound live performances where irresponsible sounds, unexpected dense sonic blasts, sharp textures, complete non-sense and deep irrationality meets to allow both the audience and the performer to absorb an unleashed raw beauty of frequencies wrath. He work with a laptop using a custom made software based on MAX/MSP as well as an analog mixer. His live performance has also a specificity to always be tailored for every events and so to adapt to almost any conditions available. Overtime he became skillful at using the most of what a sound system and acoustic of each room has to offer.
Aside of live, • • • is the co-founder of MEOVCO.comand half of Overload Collapse. He curated numerous live events and music festivals in Europe and Asia (sometime with films). Over time he got involved in collaborative projects such as writing a technical glossary, created interactive exhibitions merging photography, sounds and responsive tracking technologies, collaborative performances with dancers, performers, painters, visual artists and did several sound installations in Vietnam and France... In 2024 he oversaw the production and artistic direction of the conceptual audio album published in the form of a paper booklet with digital access code A Harsh Smoker’s Sonic Compilation, reuniting thirty-three sonic makers from all over the globe. Since 2016, he has spent most of his non-touring time in Hanoi, Vietnam and support sound makers passing by in punctual live events held downtown whenever possible...
