June 28 Special History Chat (rain date September 27)
Host: Emily Marvosh

Info: Music, history, and three-cornered hats, and a peek inside the oldest stone building in Massachusetts.
What did music sound like in Colonial Massachusetts? How was the Tufts Family involved in musicmaking in the 18th century? Was singing in a choir a subversive act? Join Somerville Artist Fellow and Historical Docent Emily Marvosh in Nathan Tufts Park on June 28 for a brief talk about the musical and cultural life of Somervillians during the time when the Old Powder House was young. Special guests from the Boston Sacred Harp Singers will demonstrate the living history of Shape Note Music, and the Old Powder House will be open before and after Emily's presentation....don't miss this chance to see Somerville's history live and up close! With support from the Somerville Arts Council and the Somerville Museum. Saturday June 28 from 11:00-11:30 am. Free admission.
