Join us for a deep dive into Grateful Dead history with David Lemieux, the Grateful Dead’s official audiovisual archivist and legacy manager. David will be in conversation with Rob Vallance, McMenamins director of brewing and a dedicated Deadhead, having seen 107 Grateful Dead shows between 1982 and 1995.
Hear the behind-the-scenes stories from over 60 years of legendary live shows beloved by Deadheads across the globe. Bring your questions for the Q&A portion of the evening and learn how the timeless musical treasures within the Grateful Dead vault are archived, curated, shared and preserved for future generations.
David Lemieux has been the Grateful Dead's official audiovisual archivist since 1999, and their legacy manager since 2010. Over the past 27 years, Lemieux has produced scores of Grateful Dead CD and DVD releases, many of which have been certified Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum by the RIAA, as well as several Grammy-nominated boxed sets. He has produced 52 of the Grateful Dead’s world-record setting 66 Billboard Top 40 albums.
Lemieux was the supervising music producer on the Martin Scorsese-produced career-spanning documentary on the Grateful Dead, 𝐿𝑜𝑛𝑔 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑇𝑟𝑖𝑝: 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑈𝑛𝑡𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝑆𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝐷𝑒𝑎𝑑. In 2012, the Grateful Dead re-named their primary archival release series 𝐷𝑎𝑣𝑒'𝑠 𝑃𝑖𝑐𝑘𝑠, as a testament to his expertise. Since 2007, he has hosted a daily show on the Sirius XM Grateful Dead Channel, 𝑇𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝐷𝑒𝑎𝑑 𝐻𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦.
