Elkhart's population grew exponentially each summer as trains and interurban brought city dwellers from Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Louis to enjoy the cool breezes and waters of Elkhart Lake, Crystal Lake and Little Elkhart Lake. We'll discuss the founding and the colorful characters of the village that set the foundation for what it is today.
