ABOUT P.J. AND TARA HEAD OF KOOPS BBQ KITCHEN | Their journey started years ago on the. Texas BBQ cook-off trail, where their love of competition barbecue and feeding people first took root. Through determination and a lot of hard work, they eventually moved into a small rented space before finally purchasing a building they had admired for years. P.J. and Tara believe good barbecue brings people together. Whether they're feeding first responders, supporting local events, or just making sure everyone who walks through their doors feels welcome, they take pride in being part of the Galveston community they love to serve.

ABOUT THE 1899 METHODIST PARSONAGE | Trustees for St. John’s Methodist Church built this two-story Victorian house in 1899 for use as a parsonage. Pioneer Methodist minister Seth Ward resided there after the 1900 Storm when called to unite St. John’s and St. Paul’s Methodist churches as Central Methodist Church in 1901. Galveston realtor Zebulon Lewis White, and wife, Louise, purchased the property in 1911 and maintained ownership for the next six decades. Located in the Kempner Park neighborhood, the parsonage retains many original features including impressive interior woodwork and decorative trim.
