Join us for an insightful event with Dr. Irving Berkowitz, delving into the history of the Holocaust and its impact on our world today.
Course Description:
The connection between Nazism, Antisemitism, and the Holocaust: Nazism's racist ideology was deeply rooted in antisemitism, which portrayed Jews as an existential threat to the "Aryan race." The Nazis implemented this ideology with terrifying efficiency, resulting in the genocide of six million Jews.
Human Capacity for Discrimination and Annihilation: The Holocaust highlights the unsettling truth that even societies perceived as "enlightened" are capable of extreme discrimination and violence.
Propaganda's Role in Justifying Genocide: The Nazi regime's propaganda machine was pivotal in demonizing Jews and other targeted groups. Propaganda dehumanized victims, rationalized state-sponsored violence, and silenced dissent.
Stages of the Final Solution & Global Indifference: The inaction of global powers, including America and its European allies, is a grim reminder of the widespread indifference to the plight of Jews. Despite receiving reports of the atrocities, the international community largely failed to intervene.
Legacy, Denial, and the Rise of Antisemitism: The legacy of the Holocaust continues to be relevant today as societies confront Holocaust denial, revisionism, and the resurgence of antisemitism in many parts of the world, including college campuses and cities in the U.S. and Europe.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn and reflect on important historical and current issues.
