About this Event

We will be joined by two guests for special presentations.

  • Professor Terri Keeley presents 250 years of U.S. Foreign Relations: From the Declaration of Independence to Today.

Professor Keeley will give an overview of U.S. foreign relations and highlight how the U.S. role on the world stage has evolved from its early days at the kiddie table to its later status as global superpower.

Theresa Keeley is an associate professor of history at the University of Louisville. Her first book, Reagan’s Gun-Toting Nuns: The Catholic Conflict over Cold War Human Rights Policy in Central America, won two prizes. Keeley’s work has appeared in both academic journals as well as the popular press, including the Washington Post. Keeley earned a JD from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD from Northwestern University.

  • Judge Charles Boteler presents Abraham Lincoln and Saving Self-government: Gettysburg to City Point.

Judge Boteler will discuss the evolution of Abraham Lincoln and the qualities necessary in our nation and its leaders if we are to preserve our experiment in self-government.

Charles Boteler is a retired Hopkins Circuit Court judge and chair of the Kentucky Judicial Campaign Conduct Committee, a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan group organized 20 years ago to safeguard the integrity of the judiciary in Kentucky judicial elections.
