Join the Des Moines Historical Society for our next History Happy Hour at Beaver Tap, a neighborhood spot with roots tied to the original Fire Station No. 17.The building at Beaver and Urbandale first became home to Station No. 17 in 1928 after local families pushed for improved fire protection in the growing Beaverdale neighborhood. A 1919 350 gallon pumper truck once rolled through the garage doors that are still visible today on the north wall of the building.
After the fire station moved to a newer location in 1952, the building went on to serve as an auto repair shop, bakery, Bon Ton Tavern, A K O’Connors, and today, Beaver Tap.
Come enjoy an evening of local history, drinks, conversation, and community.
This event is open to the public. Everyone is welcome.
