An open house will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 5:30 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers to share upcoming improvements to Douglas Avenue. The meeting will provide an overview of the planned project and give the public an opportunity to learn more and ask questions. A short presentation will begin promptly at 5:30 PM.The planned changes for Douglas Avenue (from approximately 72nd Street to Merle Hay Mall) include adding more parking spaces and reconfiguring the existing traffic lanes. No bike lanes will be included as part of this project.
These upgrades are part of the Urbandale Downtown Master Plan, which focuses on improving downtown, making streets better for walking and driving, and supporting long-term growth. Past public feedback was built directly into this plan, helping shape its priorities around balancing mobility, usability, and future development in a way that works for drivers, pedestrians, and businesses.
