Join us as we celebrate a year of incredible growth, community support, and the continued fulfillment of our mission to preserve, educate, and inspire through the keeping and sharing of history.
In 2025, the Clarksburg History Museum faced uncertainty with the loss of grants and funding that helped keep our doors open. In response, people from across West Virginia and around the country stepped forward to support our work. Because of that generosity, we have continued to grow.
• Together with event partner The Morris, the Clarksburg History Museum is proud to present the History Friends Gathering, a cocktail reception honoring the donors, sponsors, members, and friends who make this work possible.
•In just eight years, the museum has gone from a small, part-time, fully volunteer staffed operation into a five-day-a-week destination for historic education, tours, field trips, research, exhibits, and community programming. We have welcomed visitors not only from across the United States, but from around the world, including Germany, Sweden, England, and China.
• Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of drinks, light charcuterie, cookies, a cash bar, silent auction, and conversation while reflecting on the museum’s journey so far.
• Museum President Michael J. Spatafore will share remarks on where we have been, where we are headed, and how the community can continue to be part of that future.
•During the evening, we will also recognize the first-ever recipient of our History Keeper Award, honoring an individual whose work in history and historic preservation have helped shape Harrison County, West Virginia and made our community a better place for future generations.
•Guests will have the opportunity to explore our eight-year timeline, discover ways to get involved, and help sustain the museum’s mission for years to come.
