Toll Gate House 323 east main street Waynesboro Pa.
The site was originally owned by the Waynesboro-Greencastle-Mercersburg Turnpike Company and was used to collect tolls from about 1846 until after WWI. Original Purpose: The structure served as a toll collection point for the turnpike company.
Evolution of Use: Following its time as a toll house, the building served as a, tavern, grocery store, and gas station.
