Historic Orchard Workday with Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County

Please note that the minimum age to volunteer for this event is 10 years old. Adult chaperones are required to attend with individuals age 15 and under. In addition, we required all individuals under 18 years old to have a guardian read and sign our Volunteer Service Agreement form. You must email an electronic copy to [email protected]. The Volunteer Service Agreement is attached.

Our Historic Orchard Revitalization is well under way and we are looking for volunteers to help us with the continued maintenance of the new fruit trees on site. Tasks may include W**d removal, minor infrastructure repairs, tree pruning, mulching, and other tasks as necessary.

We will be meeting at the East Gate of the Historic Orchard, which you will find across from the Heritage Rose Garden shed; the address will take you to the Seymour Street parking lot. From the parking lot, follow the paved path into the park, past the gate and picnic area, and the Orchard will be on your right.

Please arrive as close to 9:30 AM as possible so that we can get you checked in via a contactless sign-in; workday instructions will follow check in. We provide all necessary tools and have gloves to borrow for the workday. If you prefer to use your own gloves, feel free to bring them to the event. The workday will begin at 9:30 AM and run through 11:30 AM, or when it gets too hot to work outside (seasonal). We are unable to accommodate drop-ins if the event is sold out. School groups and corporate teams must contact the Volunteer Coordinator in advance to schedule events.

In addition, please note that:

• Restrooms are a short walk from the Orchard
• A drinking fountain is onsite, though we highly encourage you to bring a full, reusable water bottle
• Closed-toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting dirty are essential
• We highly recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a hat
• Inclement weather may cancel this event; we will contact you should conditions require the event to be postponed
