Celebrate the rich, foundational history of Kansas City’s jazz scene as we gear up for the highly anticipated 2027/28 Women in Jazz Festival! To celebrate our beautiful new space, we are opening our doors for a special evening of storytelling and history. We are thrilled to host author Carol Brewer for an in-depth discussion on her comprehensive book detailing the groundbreaking history of the Kansas City Women’s Jazz Festival (1978–1985).
Guiding the conversation will be local favorite Steve K., who will moderate an engaging Q&A focusing on the incredible women who shaped KC’s jazz legacy, the impact of the original festivals, and how that legacy continues to inspire the artists of today.
