Join the Nathanael Greene Homestead and historian Mark Murphy On Sunday August 9th at 2:00 pm in the Homestead Barn for Nathanael Greene and His Connection to Westerly, Rhode Island
General Nathanael Greene was one of the most important Rhode Islanders in the history of our state. Greene’s ties are well established with Warwick, where he was born and raised, and Coventry, where he built a house and lived for a few years before heading off to war in 1775. But very little has ever been written about Greene’s ties with the town of Westerly. Join public historian Mark Murphy for a discussion of the Greene family’s connections with Westerly before, during and immediately after the Revolutionary War.
