β° 10AM
What to Expect:
- A roughly 2.5-mile trail through open fields and forest
- A mix of natural trail surfaces and terrain
- Spotting songbirds and wildlife
- A multi-use trail shared with mountain bikers and horseback riders
π₯Ύ Late Fall Trail Notes:
By late October, Wisconsin mornings can be pretty crisp, so layers are your best friend. Keep an eye on the forecast and bring something warmer for the start of the hike.
Leaves can also cover roots, rocks, and uneven spots on the trail, so comfortable hiking shoes with good traction are recommended.
What to Bring:
Comfortable hiking shoes, water, a light snack, bug spray, sunglasses, and layers for changing temperatures. A hat or gloves might be worth tossing in your bag too, depending on the forecast.
πΎ Dog Friendly:
Pups are welcome! Please keep dogs on a physical leash no longer than 8 feet, keep them attended and under control, and bring waste bags to help keep the trails clean.
π Parking & Other Details:
A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required for vehicles entering Kohler-Andrae State Park.
We'll be using the Black River Trail parking area at 6167 S. 12th St. in Sheboygan. The DNR notes that this outlying parking area provides access to the Black River Trail and can be less crowded than some of the park's main areas.
Parking can fill up quickly at Kohler-Andrae on fall weekends, so arriving a little early is encouraged.
Alcohol-free β’ Waiver provided β’ Carpooling encouraged β’ Leave no trace
π Grab your layers, lace up your shoes, and come enjoy one of those classic Wisconsin fall mornings on the trail. We'll see you at Black River!
